oil on canvas, unframed The canvas is unlined and is stable on its stretcher. The image reads relatively well under darkened and dirty varnish. A few pinpricks of loss and flaking throughout are visible to the naked eye and discolored varnish is visible as spots on the woman’s hand. Under UV inspection, the varnish is thick and milky, but small strokes of retouching are visible throughout, concentrated on her chest, the lower half of her face, the background, and the lower quadrant below her arms. The painting could improve with a clean and evening out the retouching, but we recommend contacting a trusted restorer for advice. Offered unframed.
